Top 30 under 30 [Nov 5, 2009 * 10:19am]

Both Kristen Bell and Jason Dohring are nominated for Portrait Magazine's Top 30 Under 30 list.
Right now neither are making the list, but Jason does have a few more votes than Kristen.
Who knows, maybe if we can get them both on the list it might help build some momentum and show that there is interest in the VM movie.  Plus since Jason seems to have nothing coming up, if we get him on the list we might be able to see more of him in the future!
Voting closes November 22nd!
You can only vote once so make it count!

Jason CW pilot, The Body Politic [Aug 8, 2009 * 1:35am]

The full presentation (31 minutes) for Jason's pilot, which wasn't picked up, has leaked, and you can download it here.

I also made some caps for the scenes that weren't in the initial clip package that was released a couple months back. You can find them here at my LJ. My reaction to the presentation is at the top, so scroll to avoid spoilers.

[Apr 12, 2009 * 3:01am]

I started a new community for The Body Politic, Jason's pilot for the CW, so I'd have somewhere to post any new information I find out about the show as it comes out. It hasn't been picked up *fingers crossed* yet, but it's someplace to read general news as it's made available.

Party Down [Mar 26, 2009 * 7:45pm]

Like a bad breakup, I anticipated getting over the abrupt and unfinished ending of Veronica Mars a lot sooner. I mourned the loss, wrote a bitchy letter to the CW’s president begging him to bring the show back and finally accepted that it was over.

Since the show’s ending, keeping tabs on film and television appearances by Kristen Bell has become a sort of hobby. Thankfully, VM creator Rob Thomas brought her aboard his latest project, along with several other former Neptune residents and my personal favorite funny lady, Jane Lynch.

The new show, Party Down, is slated to premiere on the Starz cable channel on March 20. It tells the story of a "Los Angeles catering team — wannabes stuck working for tips while hoping for their big break. Each episode of the 10-part original series finds the hapless catering team working a new event — from sweet-16 affairs to gay weddings to mobster acquittal parties to porn awards — where they inevitably get tangled up with colorful guests and the absurd drama of their own personal lives."

Much to my dismay, and likely due to the five films she currently has in production, Bell’s role is limited to a guest spot in the season finale.

The >Chicago Tribune reports that Bell will play Uda Bengt, a former member of the Party Down catering team now running a rival team that happens to be the best in town:

Ruthlessly efficient, she tolerates nothing less than perfection from the highly imperfect Party Down crew.

Thomas, who was also bummed by the CW’s decision to axe Veronica Mars, brought some of that nostalgia to the new show. Enrico Colantoni, who played Keith Mars has a guest role in the premiere, Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls) and Alona Tal (Meg Manning) guest star in Episode 2, and Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas) and Ken Marino (Vinnie Van Lowe on VM) are part of the regular cast.

Even if you — shutter — weren’t a VM fan, there are even more familiar faces on Party Down. As the linster reported in December, Lizzy Caplan of True Blood and Mean Girls) is also on board for the project.

Before I’m through gushing, E! Online had even more good news: “That long-rumored VM movie is indeed in the works.”

Oh,Veronica, I wish I could say I haven’t thought of you lately at all, but I would be fooling myself. I will gladly take you back, with open arms.

Body Politic [Mar 26, 2009 * 7:43pm]

he CW is hoping that by pairing the stars of some beloved, low-rated shows, they can score a big hit. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Minka Kelly and Jason Dohring have been been cast in The CW's pilot "Body Politic." The drama focuses on a group of attractive young staffers working in Washington. The trade paper says that Kelly will play a young woman who, grieving the loss of her mother, heads to the Beltway, where her estranged father (Tim Matheson) has just been appointed Attorney General. She joins his staff. Dohring will play a young reporter at the Washington Post,...

Rob Thomas Confirms Progress on Veronica Mars Movie -- Snarky detective may return

This misfortune of Rob Thomas's new old show (the resurrection of his 1998 Jeremy Piven show "Cupid" just had its first season order cut from thirteen to eight) may be the good fortune for fans of his previous show, "Veronica Mars".

With the free time on his hands, Thomas is planning to write the script the for the "Veronica Mars" movie with Kristen Bell returning to star (I don't think he could do this movie without her) and Joel Silver producing. Thomas says he's also spoke with Jason Dohring (Veronica's on-again-off-again boyfriend and scene-stealer Logan Echolls) and Enrico Colantoni (Veronica's father, Keith Mars).

As for where the show would pick up, it's not going to launch with Veronica as a G-woman, as was Thomas' pitch for getting the show renewed for a third season. Thomas says that the movie would be set a few days before Veronica's college graduation.

I want to be excited about this movie since I think the first season of "Veronica Mars" is a great year-long arc of television. It's just afterwards the mysteries became too dragged out and too convoluted, even when Thomas attempted to shorten them for the third season. The "Who" of the whodunit becomes so crucial to these mysteries and when Thomas gets it right, the show is fantastic. When he gets it wrong, it becomes laughable. Maybe the importance of the culprit will diminish in the span of a two-hour a movie rather than 22-hour television season.

The resident private eye / vampire, Mick St. John is back in repeats of Moonlight. Moonlight stars Alex O’Loughlin, Sophia Myles & Jason Dohring and will air on The Sci-Fi Channel.

Jason Looks Like a Young Mickey Rourke [Dec 20, 2008 * 6:27pm]

Anyone else think so? While watching clips of Mickey from the early 80s (watching YouTube clips of Diner and Rumble Fish)...I thought "My God Mickey (back then) looks like some actor now who's in his 20s..." but I couldn't pinpoint who and then I realized "OMG he looks like Jason Dohring!" IMO the resemblance is uncanny which you can see here on my LJ.

Just felt like saying.... :)
